The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a new blocking order against four entities that the regulator found to be in breach of local gambling laws.

ACMA puts the crack on several illegal gambling websites

Specifically, the four websites in question – Slot Mafia, Top Aussie Pokies, Polymarket, and Spinanga – are said to have operated in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. As a result, the regulator has issued a blocking order that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) now ought to impose.

The list has now grown to 1,297 websites, including the latest round of blocks, and ACMA has shown no signs of slowing down. The blocking began in November 2019, and the regulator has remained firmly committed to following due process in ensuring that unlicensed operators are kept at bay.

While the latest update did not come with much more details, the regulator has been actively seeking to restrict the access of illicit operators and companies to its markets.

Bans were issued in both June and July, part of the watchdog’s strategy to continue to limit these companies’ reach in the country.
