BetBlocker has appointed two new people to its Board of Trustees in the face of gambling industry and responsible gambling veterans John Wright and Darrell Helyar, Casino Guru News learned in a press release.
BetBlocker expands Board of Trustees
Both have been staunch supporters of BetBlocker’s efforts to make gambling safer and provide players and consumers worldwide with a reliable solution to help them stay in control of their habits.
With charity expanding rapidly over the past years, and Founder Duncan Garvie championing various initiatives around responsible gambling, John Wright has welcomed his addition to the board, and said:
"I am honoured to be considered for the Board of Trustees for BetBlocker. I’ve been the #1 supporter of the app since day 1 and I’ve always wanted to give something back to help players. It is my belief that more people should get involved in the responsible gambling side of the industry. I hope that my participation in responsible gambling encourages others to get involved and especially to encourage more affiliates to list RG resources on their sites. If the industry knows how to help players, then everyone benefits."
Garvie was similarly pleased with the appointments and welcomed both Helyar and Wright in their positions. Speaking about Wright’s contributions in particular, Garvie explained that the new trustee had been supporting the charity over the past years and has operated behind the scenes to ensure BetBlocker’s long-term success.
Helyar and Wright instrumental to BetBlocker’s present-day success
Helyar has been "equally significant," Garvie’s statement read. Specifically, Helyar brings business acumen and knowledge that has helped BetBlocker structure itself better and grow. More importantly, however, Helyar is a person who has distinct qualities as a human being and someone who understands the plight of people experiencing gambling-related harm.
"His empathetic approach to people management has provided sound strategic advice that has allowed BetBlocker to build a positive and hungry team that is up to the challenge of tackling the issue of gambling harm reduction," Garvie wrapped up.
BetBlocker has only this week donated to the UNLV’s International Gaming Institute seeking to champion and support independent research that is crucial in helping inform policy decisions and better protect consumers.
