Casino Guru, one of the world’s most trusted sources of independent online casino reviews and responsible gambling advocacy, has recently faced a coordinated wave of suspicious one-star reviews on its Trustpilot profile.
Over the past few days, Casino Guru received more than 40 one-star reviews in quick succession, causing its Trustpilot rating to drop from 4.2 to 3.9. For comparison, the company usually receives between 6 to 19 one-star reviews per month, making this sudden surge highly unusual.
A deeper look into the reviews revealed several red flags:
First-time reviewers: The majority of negative reviews came from accounts posting on Trustpilot for the first time.Language inconsistency: Although the reviews were all written in English, the profiles originated not only from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, but also from countries like Italy and France.Lack of details: Most of the reviews vaguely referenced disappointment with "highly rated casinos" but did not specify which casinos were involved. In many cases, Casino Guru’s internal records could not identify any of the alleged players.Adding to the situation, Trustpilot flagged the issue with Casino Guru, stating that they had identified and removed some fake reviews from the page. However, the rest of the one-star reviews remain live, despite being brought to Trustpilot's attention.
Petronela Kontos, Head of Complaint Resolution Center, commented:
"We strongly believe in transparency and open dialogue with our community. That’s why we always reply to reviews and address concerns where possible. But in this case, the suspicious nature of these reviews makes it difficult to engage meaningfully. As an organization dedicated to fairness in online gambling, we find it deeply concerning that platforms like Trustpilot can be exploited in this way, leaving brands without effective protection."
Casino Guru, founded in 2016, is recognized globally for its independent casino reviews, Complaint Resolution Center, Safety Index, and more. With a mission to improve the online gambling ecosystem, the company has consistently promoted player safety, transparency, and responsible gambling education.
This incident highlights the challenges companies face when targeted by organized review manipulation. While Casino Guru continues to uphold its commitment to integrity and fairness, it also calls for greater accountability and more robust safeguards on review platforms to ensure that feedback remains authentic and trustworthy.
