DraftKings introduces credit card ban, Casino Guru Complaint Resolution Center recovers $50m player funds

In the Netherlands, the largest gambling provider, the Dutch Lottery, strengthened its senior-level team after hiring Yvonne de Liefde and Claudia Sampaio. While the former will serve as Head of Sponsoring and Partnerships, the latter was appointed as Director of Retail. Both De Liefde and Sampaio will assume their roles on September 1, 2025.

Earlier this week, international holding PIN-UP Global announced it is scaling up to become the RedCore business group. The landmark achievement seeks to enable the iGaming technology solutions business to expand into new markets. Marina Ilina, the CEO and founder of the business group said: "Currently, we bring together expertise and technology in various areas of digital business. iGaming remains a part of our experience — but now it’s just one of the areas where we innovate and drive progress."

EveryMatrix, a global supplier of iGaming software, technology and services, reaffirmed its dedication to growing in Latin America by becoming a member of CIBELAE, the official branch of the World Lottery Association for 80 Hispanic American-speaking countries. As a result, the company was designated as an Associate Member of CIBELAE, following a board-level approval. An official ratification of EveryMatrix's membership is expected during CIBELAE's Annual Ordinary Assembly later in the year.

Regulation and laws

Ahead of the launch of the sports betting market in Missouri, scheduled for December 1, 2025, Fanatics, the leading betting and gaming brand, secured entry by signing a strategic deal with Boyd Gaming. This collaboration expands further Fanatics' presence, with the operator having access to markets in 24 US states. Per the alliance with Boyd Gaming, Fanatics will tether its offering to Ameristar casinos, which are operated by the former.

Across the ocean, in Europe, CT Interactive has expanded its footprint in the Baltic region. As part of its international push, the company obtained a license for 60 of its hit games in Latvia, an important online gambling market in the region. Martin Ivanov, CT Interactive's COO, recognized the importance of the new announcement, saying: "The certification in Latvia is an important step in our ongoing European expansion."

Recently, the Dutch gambling watchdog announced it would not permit the display of gambling sponsorships during the Dutch Grand Prix. Besides announcing the prohibition, the gambling watchdog issued a warning to sports teams and advertisers.

Responsible gambling

The leading betting and gaming company, DraftKings, has decided to suspend all credit card gambling across the country. The credit card ban started on August 25, 2025, and effectively prevents direct deposits from credit cards and third-party payment platforms funded by credit cards.

The landmark move by DraftKings is a testament to its dedication to responsible gambling. At the same time, the nationwide ban on credit card gambling complements the operator's commitment to decreasing problem gambling and gambling-related harm.

A new Problem Gambling Resource Center located on the premises of the proposed Freedom Plaza in New York is going to be developed, provided that The Soloviev Group and Mohegan receive one of the three coveted casino licenses. The development of the new Resource Center was agreed upon between the two companies and the New York Council on Problem Gambling under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding.
