DraftKings is looking to expand its demographic in strides, with the company announcing Spanish-language support for its online sportsbooks and casinos.
Commenting on the expansion, DraftKings Chief Product Officer Corey Gottlieb said that the company has decided to execute this change to its offer as there has been a noticeable gain in the Spanish-speaking audience it has accumulated and sought to provide the best possible experience.
DraftKings expands Spanish-language support with more tailored online platforms
By ensuring that native Spanish speakers are able to access the platform in their native tongue, they can enjoy a more immersive and thorough experience, Gottlieb added. Presently, DraftKings is launching the product offer in a controlled environment with select releases across the United States, as well as in Ontario, Canada, where the company already has a strong business presence.
Anyone who has selected Spanish already as their preferred language will also get their app to automatically display every metric and piece of information in the target language after an update. This announcement comes at a dynamic time for the Boston-headquartered wagering giant.
DraftKings has announced a withdrawal from Nevada and the American Gaming Association, as it expects to expand in the prediction market space. At the same time, the company has sought to consolidate its presence in wagering markets, with Spanish speakers a key demographic to target.
At least 41m people in the United States speak Spanish, and a considerable number of Hispanic adults are also wagering on sports – about 27% according to a Pew Research survey.
By tailoring its offer to this demographic, DraftKings is ensuring that it has a pull with a population that may well be one of its core pillars of long-term sustainability and outpacing the competition.
