One of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong and a leader in horse racing, sporting and betting entertainment, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, obtained an important responsible gambling recertification.
On Monday, the organization confirmed that it has successfully secured the highest responsible gambling accreditation, Level 4, under the Responsible Gambling Framework set by the World Lottery Association (WLA).
Fifth consecutive Level 4 accreditation
The recent achievement marks the fifth consecutive time the Jockey Club has obtained the prestigious Level 4 responsible gambling accreditation.
It was back in 2011 when the Club first received Level 4 accreditation, designating it as the first organization in Asia to obtain the prestigious honor.
Since then, the Club was successfully recertified in 2015, 2018, 2021 and now, 2025.
The recertification obtained this year also designates the Club as the first organization to receive the highest-level responsible gambling accreditation five consecutive times.
Per the Responsible Gambling Framework by the WLA, organizations eligible to receive Level 4 accreditation must implement a range of initiatives and ensure compliance with them on a daily basis.
Moreover, operators and organizations need to demonstrate ongoing improvement and evaluate their operations.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club surpassed the requirements for the accreditation
The Responsible Gambling Framework consists of 10 main components, with the list including: research, employee programs, game design, retailer programs, remote gaming channels, advertising and marketing communications, treatment referral, player education, stakeholder engagement as well as reporting and measurement.
To obtain the recertification, the Club has gone through an assessment by a panel of independent experts.
Those experts evaluated the company's initiatives and dedication to responsible gambling.
Notably, the WLA's independent assessment panel commended the Club for "the quality, scope and strategic alignment demonstrated throughout its submission, reflecting a mature and deeply embedded commitment to responsible gambling across the Club."
Equally as important, the assessment highlighted the organization's "stringent internal responsible gambling governance and improvement mechanisms, including the establishment of a Responsible Gambling Committee."
The Hong Kong Jockey Club was also recognized for its dedication to preventing gambling harm, especially among younger individuals and underage groups.
At the same time, the Club constantly collaborates with different organizations in terms of research on responsible gambling and remains committed to improving its code of conduct and employee policies.
All those achievements and commitments have surpassed the established Level 4 accreditation standards, the WLA explained.
