The UK's leading charity, dedicated to providing vital support and residential treatment to people affected by gambling harm, Gordon Moody, recently welcomed MP Alex Ballinger to its flagship residential facility in Redditch, Gordon Moody House.
The charity shared insights about its noble work
During the visit of the Member of Parliament for Halesowen, Gordon Moody highlighted the importance of its services and the key role they play in tackling gambling harm.
The leading charity shared with Ballinger how its services help complex and high-risk cases of problem gambling.
Moreover, Gordon Moody acknowledged the importance of the integration of effective gambling treatment with the NHS referral pathways.
"We discussed the importance of integrating gambling harm treatment into the NHS referral pathways, ensuring people get the right help, in the right place, at the right time," the charity wrote.
Focusing on the recent visit of the MP, Gordon Moody further wrote: "Thank you, Alex Ballinger, for your interest in our work and your commitment to improving access to treatment."
Earlier this month, one UK MP urged the government to do more to protect minors from gambling.
In an opinion piece shared online, Chris Evans, a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom, encouraged the government to do more to protect children from gambling harm.
"My children, like many others, are into sports. They look up to these athletes as heroes, something many parents encourage. But when these role models appear alongside headlines like "free £2 shop bet" or the logos of major bookmakers, it creates a troubling association," Evans wrote.
The treatment center in Redditch opened its doors in November
Back in October, Gordon Moody announced the upcoming opening of its new residential treatment center in Redditch.
At the time, the charity confirmed the new location would open its doors on November 25, 2024.
This new residential treatment center complements the charity's goal in addressing severe and complex cases of gambling harm and problem gambling.
Ultimately, the center strengthened Gordon Moody's capabilities, enabling it to provide efficient treatment to people who need it most.
