Business and finance
The globally recognizable lottery operator, Allwyn, confirmed its intention to secure $1.6bn stake in PrizePicks, the leading US daily fantasy sports operator. The deal represents one of the largest transactions for the gambling sector this year.
The finalization of the stake buyout in PrizePicks is expected to be completed at some point in H1 2026. Based on the transaction sum, the stake is an estimated 62.3%.
Ultimately, the strategic move complements Allwyn's expansion, while diversifying its portfolio and enabling it to grow into sectors different than lotteries. The business decision comes after the company recorded a significant win in the UK, where it was designated as the operator of the National Lottery.
BOYLE Sports confirmed the relaunch of its online casino in Ireland and the United Kingdom. The company promises to offer better experiences to customers on its platform and confirmed its intention to set itself apart from its competitors. Elsewhere, Yolo Group, the leading gambling crypto-first powerhouse, unveiled changes to its operating model, including a focus on regulated markets and brand merger. The Group, led by Tim Heath, confirmed that it will merge its Bitcasino and Sportsbet.io brands into one online casino and sportsbook platform called Yolo.com.
The creation of this brand-new platform means that the individual brands will cease to operate and all processes will be streamlined through Yolo.com. A statement released by the Group read: "Furthermore, it has become abundantly clear that domestic regulators who are offering licenses are not keen on other group operations continuing to operate in pre-regulated markets."
The business move reaffirms Yolo Group's intention to focus on growing in Tier-1 regulated markets. As a result, the company will work with recognizable operators, including Spelinspektionen and the Gambling Commission in the UK, among others.
Regulation and laws
In Argentina, one province blocked more than 100 illegal gambling websites. That's the case for Misiones, where a judge ordered internet service providers to immediately block access to 112 gambling websites. According to the local government, those websites offered their services to local residents without the necessary license and even put children at risk.
Elsewhere, in Michigan, the state regulator issued cease-and-desist letters against unregulated websites. The orders affected a total of eight operators and online casino brands, which, according to the gambling watchdog, operate without a license. The Michigan Gaming Control Board released a list, confirming the affected operators are: Bspin Casino, EverygameCasino, EverygameSportsCasino, Kudos Casino, PlayCrocoOnlineCasino, Slots of Vegas, SpinDimension and SuperSlots.

The warning, emerging in time for the National Football League season, highlighted the dangers of using unlicensed gambling operators and offshore gaming platforms. The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) confirmed that its executive president, Fernando Vieira, plans to step down from his role.
